But my favourite compliment?
“I forgot I was wearing them.”
Honestly.
Because that's exactly what I hoped would happen.
Pretty is easy.
Comfort is harder.
Lots of earrings look beautiful in a photo.
The real test is whether you're still happy wearing them six hours later.
At a wedding.
In the office.
At brunch.
Halfway through a concert.
If you're counting down the minutes until you can take them off...
...they've failed.
The surprise moment.
Whenever someone picks up a pair of Smudges for the first time, there's nearly always the same reaction.
They expect them to be heavy.
Instead they laugh.
Or they look confused.
Or they ask...
“Wait... these are made from paper?”
Exactly.
Jewellery should fit into your life.
Not become another thing you have to tolerate.
If you stop noticing your earrings because they're comfortable...
...and everyone else keeps noticing them because they're colourful...
I think that's a pretty good combination.
